A Morning Cup of Tea : Finishing Chapter 23

 Verses 29-39 of Matthew 23

Jesus is still taking the Pharisees to task. They act all pious and say if they had been around in their fathers' day they would not have killed prophets, yet by their very words they are thrilled at the lineage. And Jesus knew it was a lie, because for a long while prophets had been sent, and the prophets were killed or tortured. The Pharisees during this time did not want to hear what Jesus said, and would loved to have killed him themselves, but they feared retribution; not only from the multitudes who followed Jesus but by the Romans.

Jesus lamented over Jerusalem, and how he tried so hard to teach them, but he was rejected over and over again. He finally told them he was going to leave them until the day they said Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.
I'm not so sure I understand these last few verses. I would like to come back to them at another time and gain more understanding.
